Description:

The IDeA project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and carried out by two universities and partners from industry. The goal is to develop a system that combines several functions for people with age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Medical diagnoses can be supported by inexpensive and portable tests in virtual reality or the evaluation of eye movements in everyday life. Furthermore, the system facilitates the learning and improvement of visual coping strategies (e.g. eccentric fixation) for those affected. In addition, an easily recognisable visual extension of reality is offered to those affected in difficult situations in order to make information more easily accessible.
