Extended reality for persons with age-related macular degeneration

Subject: Extended reality for persons with age-related macular degeneration: The potential for screening, training, and use as an assistive technology
Abstract: Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is one of the most common causes for low vision. Due to demographic changes, the number of persons with AMD is likely to increase in the coming decades. The talk will present IDeA – a national multipartner project, funded by the German Ministry of Education and Research. IDeA explores the potential of extended reality technology (VR and AR) to improve the diagnostics and rehabilitation of AMD as well as to function as an assistive technology in the everyday life of persons with AMD.
